Sterile gauze swabs (also called medical gauze pads, medical gauze sheets, or cotton wound dressings) are essential consumables in hospitals, clinics, emergency care, and first-aid kits. They are widely used for wound protection, absorption of exudate, and surgical dressing fixation.
We provide bulk supply and OEM customization of sterile gauze swabs, non-sterile gauze pads, and bandaging accessories to hospitals, pharmacies, and distributors worldwide.
Precautions for Using Medical Gauze Sheets
-
Single-use only: Medical gauze sheets are disposable and must not be reused.
-
Flammable material: Made of 100% cotton, gauze swabs should be kept away from fire and flammable items.
-
Proper storage: Store gauze sheets in a cool, dry, ventilated place. Avoid high humidity.
-
Safe disposal: After use, dispose of gauze pads according to hospital infection-control or environmental regulations.
Bandaging Methods Using Sterile Gauze and Medical Bandages
1. Ordinary Dressing Bandage
-
Unroll the bandage, holding one end firmly.
-
Place the tape end obliquely under the bandaged area and wrap it securely.
-
Fold the oblique corner down and circle 2–3 times.
-
Fix with medical tape, adhesive plaster, or bandage clips.
2. Ring Bandage Method
-
Used at the beginning or end of bandaging small wounds (neck, wrist, chest, abdomen).
-
Wrap in at least two loops, with the lower layer completely covering the upper one.
-
Fix with adhesive tape or pins, or split the end into two strips to tie securely.
3. Snake Wrapping Method (Oblique Stretch)
-
Ideal for quick bandaging from one area to another, or splint fixation.
-
Wrap twice, then wind obliquely upward at intervals, and finish with two loops.
4. Spiral Wrapping Method
-
Suitable for limbs or body parts of equal diameter (upper arms, fingers, torso, thighs).
-
Wrap twice, then spiral upward at <30°, overlapping 1/3–1/2 each turn.
-
Finish with two loops and secure.
5. Spiral Reflex Wrapping (Turning Method)
-
Used for parts with varying diameters (forearm, calf).
-
Wrap twice, spiral upward at <30°, folding downward each turn to align the folds.
-
Cover 1/3–1/2 of the previous layer and secure.
6. “8” Wrapping Method
-
For joints and flexible parts (elbows, shoulders, hips, knees).
-
Wrap distal end twice, cross over joint making a figure “8”, overlapping 1/3–1/2 each turn.
-
Secure with a ring bandage.
7. Return Bandaging Method
-
For tips or areas without tops (fingertips, head, amputation stumps).
-
Ring wrap twice, then fold perpendicular upwards covering the center, left, and right sides alternately.
-
Overlap 1/3–1/2 each time, then secure with two loops.
